About
Everyone has a junk drawer. Probably more than one.
At home, it's the drawer in your kitchen with the flashlight, twisty-ties, rubber bands, scraps of paper, spare batteries, and old pens that don't write anymore. At work, it's that center drawer with half-used post-it note packs, semi-dried out highlighters, paper clips, and spare USB drives.
But we also have junk drawers in other parts of our lives.
It's our inbox stuffed full with emails we didn't have time to deal with when they arrived. It's the floordrobe in the bedroom with clothes we didn't feel like putting away. It's the ever-present list in the back of your mind of the tasks, the emotions, and the personal problems that you keep pushing away instead of addressing.
Basically, it's any place where you've stashed everything that you didn't know what to do with at the time. And you didn't want to deal with it at the time, either. So you just threw it into your junk drawer.
And over time, the drawer has filled up with a huge assortment of clutter. Physical clutter, mental clutter, and emotional clutter. It causes you stress. It makes you inefficient. It may make you feel guilty for not dealing with it.
Here at The Ordered Drawer I hope to help you to first organize your junk drawers, and then put systems in place to process stuff before it ends up in the junk drawer. Inevitably, though, the junk drawers will slowly fill up, and it will be time to purge them once again. But I hope to help you make that process easier.
My hope is that The Ordered Drawer can provide the resources you need to get your life in order and keep it that way.
