Rainy Weekend

We had a relaxing and rainy Easter weekend at home.  Good Friday was my first day off in several months, and I was thrilled for the opportunity to sleep in and stay in the house all day.  Jon has been working hard on his outlines and papers for law school, and lest I feel completely lazy in comparison, I got out the sewing machine on Friday for another project.

I’ve been wanting to learn how to quilt for awhile now, but after looking around at the fabric store I decided that I should start with something smaller.  Potholders seemed like a good option. Quilting is definitely more difficult than I anticipated (i.e.  it took me most of Friday and Saturday to finish these), but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.  Maybe I’ll get up my courage to try something bigger this summer.

And on Saturday I managed to coax Jon away from his work long enough for a round of one of our favorite games … Bananagrams!

Oh, and I also finally finished reading Lord of the Rings (for the second time), which I started over Christmas break.  I love reading Tolkien so much!  I was actually sad to put that book back on the shelf.
